The three flowers that stopped a highway

August 2021 Kaldarte Nonexo http://www.kaldarte.com/

This project for the festival Kaldarte NoNexo in Caldas de Reis, Galicia, Spain proposes a posible future where endangered plants are made from the rubbish in the area. Three indigenous and endangered plants in Galicia ( la santolina de Melide, la margaza de Barazón y la herba de namorar de Merino) which were able to stop the construction of a highway were the protagonists in this community project. 500 flowers of the three plants were created using waste materials during workshops open to the public. These flowers were then used to repopulate a green space in the town, bringing these endangered species back to life.
